The Ciutadella Park

Filled to overflowing with vegetation that is largely centuries-old and very rich in species, Ciutadella Park contains a great diversity of elements that make it especially valuable. Located at the end of Paseo Lluis Companys, it is one of the most beautiful natural parks in the city, its interior houses several monuments and buildings of great interest; the Museum of Zoology, the work of the modernist architect Doménech y Muntaner, the Museum of Modern Art, the Zoo and the Parliament of Catalonia, the entire building is surrounded by 28 busts representing plastic artists, just in front of the building there is an oval pond where we can admire one of the most important sculptures of Catalan modernism “El Desconsol”, work of the sculptor José Llimona. In the center of the park is the lake, dominating a large esplanade from where we can see an impressive waterfall.
