The Foundation was created in 1970 as a center dedicated to disseminating Miró’s work and contemporary art. The building is the work of the architect Josep Lluis Sert, a great friend of Miró, and was enlarged in 1988 and in 2000. It is one of the most visited museums in the city, it has 14,000 objects by the artist and interesting temporary exhibitions are held, with attention to younger artists.
