Work of Domènech i Montaner, from 1880. 1st building of Catalan modernism. Headquarters of the “Tàpies Foundation”.
The building was built between 1881 and 1886 to house the Montaner i Simón publishing house, it can be considered one of the first modernist buildings, it consists of three floors combining iron and brick incorporating skylights that allow natural lighting. Look at the facade where we can see the use of different materials and elements. In 1987 an important reform was carried out to house the Antoni Tàpies Foundation.
