Clock tower

The tower is located on the Fisherman’s Wharf and was built in 1772 as the first lighthouse in the port of Barcelona, in 1904 it lost its function as a lighthouse when a new one was installed on the Montjuïc mountain and it was not until 1911 that it began to function as a clock.

Inside
The clock is accessed by a spiral staircase that narrows as you go up, when you reach the clock it is curious to see that number 7 is a window that was opened to watch the port.

Curiosities
Protagonist of the universal metric system. Chosen as one of the points in the city used to establish the current metric system, the meridian of Paris was taken as a reference between the Dunkerque and Barcelona sections, a plaque with the name of the French physicist André Mechain reminds us of it.
